Where passion and murder are one...
Inner Sanctum (1991) is a steamy psychological thriller directed by Fred Olen Ray, starring Tanya Roberts, Margaux Hemingway, and Joseph Bottoms. Combining dangerous obsessions, betrayal, and murder, this early 1990s erotic thriller delivers the provocative suspense that defined the direct-to-video genre.
Joseph Bottoms stars as Baxter Reed, an unfaithful husband trapped in a troubled marriage to his wealthy, wheelchair-bound wife. Margaux Hemingway plays his mistress, while Tanya Roberts portrays a seductive nurse whose mysterious past and dangerous intentions complicate Baxter's plans to murder his wife. As secrets unravel and passions intensify, the characters become entangled in a deadly game of deception.
Known for his extensive work in cult and exploitation cinema, director Fred Olen Ray brings his signature blend of sensuality and suspense to this twist-filled thriller. Fans of 1990s erotic suspense films such as Wild Orchid and 9½ Weeks will appreciate its atmosphere of intrigue and forbidden desire.
This RCA/Columbia Pictures Home Video release features the unrated version, containing footage not included in the R-rated edition. With its striking original cover artwork and classic early-1990s video store appeal, Inner Sanctum is an excellent addition to collections of vintage erotic thrillers, cult cinema, and obscure VHS releases.
