Peter Sellers takes on a grim dramatic role in The Blockhouse, a claustrophobic survival story inspired by extraordinary real events. Eight prisoners of war become trapped inside an underground fortress, cut off from the outside world but surrounded by enough food, wine, and supplies to remain alive for years. As escape attempts fail, isolation exposes their resilience, fear, compassion, and unraveling sanity.
Charles Aznavour, Peter Vaughan, and Jeremy Kemp join Sellers in the ensemble cast. Directed by Clive Rees and based on Jean-Paul Clébert’s novel Le Blockhaus, the film is an unusual choice for collectors of World War II dramas, psychological survival stories, and lesser-known Peter Sellers performances. This vintage edition was released by Paragon Video Productions and distributed by American Video Corp.
