One of the most provocative and critically acclaimed films of the 1980s, The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) is a powerful biblical drama directed by Martin Scorsese and based on the controversial novel by Nikos Kazantzakis.

Willem Dafoe stars as Jesus of Nazareth, portrayed as a deeply human figure struggling with doubt, temptation, and the extraordinary burden of his destiny. Harvey Keitel plays Judas Iscariot, alongside Barbara Hershey as Mary Magdalene, Harry Dean Stanton as Saul, and David Bowie as Pontius Pilate. The film explores faith, sacrifice, and the conflict between earthly desires and divine purpose.

Featuring an atmospheric musical score by Peter Gabriel, The Last Temptation of Christ earned Scorsese an Academy Award nomination for Best Director and received Golden Globe nominations for Barbara Hershey and Gabriel. Its unconventional interpretation of the life of Jesus sparked widespread controversy upon release, establishing the film as a landmark in religious cinema and cinematic freedom of expression.

This vintage MCA Home Video VHS release features the film's distinctive red-and-black cover artwork and original theatrical imagery. A compelling addition to collections of Martin Scorsese films, controversial cinema, 1980s dramas, and classic VHS releases.
